When I Try an Outfit On...

When I try an outfit on and it doesn't make me look good, I just throw it on the floor. Like, no, you don't deserve to be hung up, sit there and think about what you’ve done.

This is one of my favorite funny quotes (I couldn’t find online who originally said it). It got me thinking—I used to feel bad about my body when I would try clothes on that were the size I was supposed to be wearing but that I didn’t fit into. Or maybe it was the latest style but didn’t look good on me. I blamed myself for not looking good in the outfit. And I would bet that many of you out there have had the same kinds of thoughts.

But what if we thought differently about it-maybe we are just fine (even if we want to lose a few pounds). Maybe we should get clothes that fit US, instead of trying to fit the clothes? What if we had clothes in our closet that fit us NOW, instead of holding on to a bunch of clothes that we might be able to fit into when we lose weight someday? Can we appreciate our bodies now, while still working toward a goal of losing weight or getting better in shape? I say YES!
