Weight is Just a Number

Some say age is just a number-not sure if I really believe that. But weight IS just a number. How can I justify that? I'm so glad you asked!

Did you know that if you weigh 175 pounds on Earth, you would weigh only 29 pounds on the moon? And that you would weigh 159 pounds on Venus and only 11 pounds on Pluto. But that same 175 pound person would weigh 442 pounds on Jupiter!* It's true! Weight is literally just the pull of gravity, and gravity is based on the size and density of a particular planet. It has nothing to do with us at all!

So why do so many women (and some men) practically live and die by the number on the scale? Some people let the number on the scale determine whether they're happy that day. Some will remove jewelry to try to weigh in lower at the doctor (I've seen it). Some will deprive themselves that day because of the number on the scale. And some develop deadly eating disorders in an attempt to get to the perfect weight. Sadly, we have been conditioned to put a lot of our self-esteem into how much we weigh.

But it doesn't have to be that way. I work with my clients to improve fitness and develop a healthy lifestyle (not just to lose weight), improve their relationship with food, and improve emotional health regardless of the size of their body.
