The Grass is Greener Where You Water It

Are you “watering” the areas of your life that you want to grow?

Have you ever made a To Do list and at the end of the day you haven't done anything on the list? I have, and it's a very frustrating experience. But I knew that I had done things during the day, so why didn't I get my To Do list done?

The answer is that I spent my time doing other things that weren't on the To Do list. I realized that other demands sucked all of my time and I didn't have any time to give to the To Do list.

Life can be like that. Here's another example--one day I realized that I was spending more time watching cute cat videos than petting my actual cats! Sounds silly, but we can get pulled (or enticed) in so many different directions that we end up giving our time to things that are less important and not giving time to things that are more important.

Sit down and decide what's really important to you in life. Then figure out how to give your precious time to those things. Of course, there will always be things in life that we will have to give our time to and we don't really have the choice not to. But take a look at the things you have control over, and decide if these are things you REALLY want to do.

If you have difficulty with this, or want to learn HOW to stop giving your time to things that are not important to you, counseling can help.
